Serbia’s Pocerina region lies just southwest of Belgrade, and surrounds the town of Valjevo. Here, the geography becomes steeper with less undulation and more rocky outcroppings. Due to its topography, this region is a hidden gem of which little has been written. However, one of the best statements to summarize the region came from a Frenchman traveling from Belgrade to Syria. He wrote:

"...On that trip I have not found anything worth mentioning but the
Valjevo town. A town with a lot of population, vast, pleasant for a
great number of gardens, in I which surrounding I was served with
excellent wines, the most delicious that I have ever tasted elsewhere."
